GridRecipe — an AI tool that turns recipes into tables

Photograph the recipe card, paste a link, or build by hand — and get the recipe as a table: every ingredient and every step on one sheet. Free builder with no sign-in, AI conversion for those who'd rather not type it out. Launched the same evening the idea came.

In the summer of 2026 a twenty-year-old format went viral again: the recipe as a table, where every ingredient and every step gets its own cell and the whole dish reads on one sheet. Everyone wanted to make their own — nobody had a tool for it.

The solution

GridRecipe is a free builder with no sign-in, where you lay out the table yourself and share it with a link. The paid part is the AI: photograph a handwritten recipe card or a cookbook page, or paste the link to a recipe buried under a 500-word life story — and get back the table, ready to cook from.

AI with taste

The AI only does the tedious part: reading and structuring. The format itself — the layout, how the cells interlock — is code we wrote, and it reproduces the 2004 original exactly. The free version is fully manual on purpose: the result should look like something a person made.

The result

Built and launched the same evening the idea came. The first recipe from a stranger appeared under an hour after photo conversion went live — and users' own shared recipes pull more traffic than the marketing pages.
